Last Updated: October 27, 2025 — Swanly AI (operating under the DPDP Act, 2023)

Personal information we collect

Information you provide to us. Personal information you may provide to us through the Service or otherwise includes:

  • Account data: phone number, email, Google login information, username and password you set to establish an account, and profile photo.
  • Profile data: date of birth, age, gender, city, college, photographs and videos, links to social profiles (if you choose to add them), answers to personality or compatibility surveys, romantic and personal preferences, and any other information you add to your profile. This may include sensitive data you voluntarily provide such as sexual orientation, religion, or ethnicity.
  • Communications data: messages you send through the App, support requests, and correspondence with us.
  • Transactional data: currently not applicable (Swanly AI is free). If paid features are introduced we will update this Policy accordingly.
  • Marketing data: preferences for receiving marketing communications and engagement with such communications.
  • User-generated content: photos, images, videos, chat messages, and other content you upload or create within the Service. Note: other users may save or copy content you share with them.
  • Survey and promo data: any additional information you voluntarily provide when participating in surveys, research, or promotional activities.
  • Other data: any other information you choose to provide which we process as described in this Policy.

Third-party sources. We may combine personal information we collect from you with personal information obtained from other sources, including:

  • Public sources and your social profiles (only if you link them).
  • Information supplied by other users (for example, referrals or reports).
  • Service providers acting on our behalf (for example authentication providers when you sign in with Google).

Data about others. If you invite contacts or provide information about third parties, do so only with their permission. We process such information only as necessary to provide the requested feature.

Inferences. We may derive inferences about you (for example, compatibility scores or personality traits) from the data described above to provide and improve the Service.

Automatic data collection. We and our service providers automatically log information about your device and interactions, including:

  • Device data: operating system, device model, IP address, unique identifiers, and basic location (city/area).
  • Online activity data: screens viewed, time spent, navigation paths, and whether you open in-app emails or messages.
  • Location data: collected automatically when you authorize the App to access device location; otherwise approximate location may be inferred from IP address.
  • Communication interaction data: metadata about your interactions with emails or in-app messages (e.g., opened, forwarded).

For more about automatic collection, see the Tracking, AI & Other Technologies section below.

Tracking, AI & Other Technologies

Some automatic collection and processing is facilitated by technologies and third-party services. For clarity: Swanly AI is a mobile-first app and does not rely on web cookies for core functionality. We use the following types of technologies and services:

  • Local storage and identifiers: Mobile app storage and advertising identifiers used for analytics, crash reporting, and anti-abuse measures.
  • Web beacons / pixel tags: Used in emails or web previews to track whether communications were opened (applies to email messages sent by us).
  • AI and chatbot technologies: Swanly AI uses AI/ML for matching and chat assistance. We use OpenAI APIs for specific features (such as chat assistance and compatibility interpretation). When you interact with chat features, limited context and metadata (and where necessary anonymized message content) may be transmitted to our AI providers to generate responses or match suggestions. OpenAI and other providers may process IP address and other connection metadata as part of service delivery.

Important AI transparency notes:

  • AI is used to analyze personality responses, stated preferences, and limited chat context to generate compatibility insights and recommended matches.
  • AI processing is performed under data minimization and anonymization principles. We do not use your personal messages to train public models.
  • AI outputs are used internally to improve recommendations and the user experience; they are not sold or published externally.

How we use your personal information

We use personal information for the following primary purposes and as otherwise described at the time of collection:

Your choices

Access or update your information

You may access and update most account information via the App settings. You can edit profile fields, change privacy visibility, and manage communication preferences.

To opt-out of marketing messages, follow the unsubscribe link in the communication or update your preferences in-app. Service-related messages (such as security alerts) will still be sent.

Privacy settings

Control visibility of profile fields and your availability for matches from within the App settings.

Delete account and content

You may delete your account in the App settings. After deletion, your account enters a 7-day reactivation period. After that period, your account and profile data are permanently deleted from active systems, except for anonymized analytics and any data that must be retained to satisfy legal obligations.
